Prior to the Christmas break football clubs across NSW received a fantastic Christmas present as Sport Australia announced the successful applicants from the Move it Aus – Community Sport Infrastructure grant program.
Over $1.5 million worth of funds was allocated to football facilities across NSW.
The Sport Australia Move it Aus – Community Sport Infrastructure grant program provided $28.3 million worth of grants across Australia. The grant experienced overwhelming interest with over 2,000 applications totalling more than $390 million in grant requests.
Both regional and metropolitan Sydney football clubs benefitted from the grant funding announcement which will see amenity buildings being built and playing surfaces improved.
This funding injection will assist local community clubs in improving the player experience for every participant.
Facility development has enormous economic, health and social benefits for the local community. Our NSW Community Impact of Football report in 2018 highlighted that football brings a total annual community impact of over $519 million. This impact is expected to soar to $1 billion dollar by 2025.

Investment from state and federal government through initiatives such as the Move it Aus – Community Sport Infrastructure grant program will ensure football continues to contribute to the fabric of every local community in NSW.
Congratulations to all the successful football clubs in NSW who will see significant facility upgrades in the coming year.
